FC Barcelona's ambitious transfer strategy, which reportedly includes targeting players like Nico Williams and triggering release clauses for others, has hit a significant roadblock. LaLiga President Javier Tebas has issued a stern warning, stating that while the club might be able to pay release clauses, registering new players is a separate hurdle they currently cannot clear.

Tebas's comments come amidst widespread speculation about Barcelona's summer moves. He explicitly noted the club's financial situation, indicating they are not operating under the league's "1:1 rule," which dictates that clubs can only spend what they generate in income.

"I don't know, they have to make moves and see which players they are going to decide... I hear so much... I no longer know what is true of what is written. Barcelona is not within the 1:1 rule (spending based on income). I think the other day they announced the payment of Joan García's clause, but I don't know if they have already done it, I don't find out much... One thing is that they make it official and another thing is that they can register it," Tebas explained, highlighting the distinction between signing a player and officially registering them to play in the league.

Crucially, Tebas underscored that LaLiga is not currently in the player registration period, which means that even if Barcelona secures agreements with their targets, their immediate integration into the squad is unlikely. This regulatory hurdle suggests that any new acquisitions may not be able to join the club quickly, potentially impacting pre-season preparations and early league matches.

Tebas Weighs in on Ballon d'Or Race: Yamal and Mbappé Among Top Contenders

Beyond Barcelona's transfer woes, Javier Tebas also offered his insights into the highly anticipated Ballon d'Or race. He singled out Lamine Yamal as a strong candidate, recognizing the young Spaniard's meteoric rise and undeniable talent. Tebas also acknowledged that Kylian Mbappé remains, without a doubt, another prime contender for football's most prestigious individual award, given his consistent brilliance and impactful performances.

Fans will have to wait for further developments to see how this transfer saga unfolds and what resolution is ultimately reached by the club and the league.
