Lewis Koumas scored the first, and Jayden Danns scored a brace in the second half as the Reds won 3-0 at home. Klopp said after the game, "It was a special week for all of us. I do the job for a little while and you don’t have weeks like that too often. This was a tough game in a horribly difficult situation for us. We have to accept it and see who we can line up. Lewis [Koumas] is a fantastic finisher, but they’ve got to learn and improve. Dannsy [Jayden Danns] is quite a good finisher, the first goal was exceptional, but the goals are no different to the youth level."

Klopp then spoke about the importance of the youngster this week despite the injury crisis Liverpool is going through. Liverpool played James McConnell, Bobby Clark, Koumas, Danns, Kaide Gordon, and 16-year-old Trey Nyoni. Klopp gave Liverpool fans a hint of what to expect in the summer transfer window by saying, "This is the week of the Academy. I am so happy to say that, really. But don't forget about this (Liverpool youngsters shining) when the transfer window opens!"

Klopp praises Caoimhin Kelleher during the absence of Alisson Becker

Klopp is a big admirer of Kelleher after his recent performances. The Irish keeper conceded three goals in the last five games, keeping two clean sheets. Klopp said, "I love [Kelleher]. I've said it very often: goalkeepers need rhythm. Caoimh knows he's confident, he can play in other teams, and we have Alisson Becker. So we gave him the Europa games and then he's played while Ali has been injured. He kept us in the game."
