Karim Benzema has been a big target for many Premier League clubs this January winter transfer window. Benzema left Real Madrid last summer to join Al-Ittihad in Saudi Arabia for a 3-year deal. He arrived as a free agent but the deal was worth more than $200 million.

Benzema scored nine goals and has provided five assists in the Saudi Pro League this season. The club has downgraded from last year since they won the league the previous season with 72 points. After 18 games player, the club sits 7th with 28 points. Benzema was reportedly unhappy at the club and missed training. Al-Ittihad coach Marcelo Gallardo reportedly left him out of the squad training for indiscipline.

After hearing these reports of Benzema's unhappiness in Saudi Arabia, Premier League clubs were interested. Although he is 36, the English teams wanted to bring him in on loan to help their attacks. The three names were Manchester United, Chelsea, and Arsenal.

Man United were heavily linked recently because of their young attack in the squad. With a new injury in Anthony Martial and other players leaving the club on loan, the Red Devils are believed to bring Benzema in a similar way to how they signed Edison Cavani a few years ago.

Chelsea was interested as well since their strikers are very young. Nicolas Jackson and Armando Broja don't have enough experience to score important goals for the team and are struggling to find goals in the Premier League. Jackson is out of the team because he is with Senegal in the AFCON Cup this month. Benzema's inclusion in the squad was welcomed.

Arsenal also has a striker issue since Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah struggle to score many goals for the team. Arsenal believes that with Benzema around, he could score the chances they create on the pitch and give Nketiah and Jesus a few tips on being a prolific goalscorer like him.
