Both Dani Alves and Robinho, have been in the news for some time now, as both former Brazilian soccer players were charged and found guilty of abuse. Robinho was sentenced to 9 years in prison, while Alves received a sentence of 4 and a half years. However, in the case of the former FC Barcelona player, there was much controversy recently as he was granted bail.

After having paid one million euros, Dani Alves was released from prison and although he must comply with certain measures to stay out of jail, many have criticized the decision of the Spanish justice system. However, in the soccer world, few have dared to comment on this controversial issue, but one of those who has already taken a position on the matter is Felipe Melo, who was a teammate of both Robinho and Alves in the Brazilian national team during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

In an interview with 'Globo Sporte', Melo spoke about the cases of Robinho and Dani Alves, leaving a quite clear position on the matter. "I have a 15-year-old daughter. If they had done it with my daughter, I don't think I would be here to give you this interview. I think you have to respect human beings, you have to respect women," he assured and further explained that while he was very surprised to learn about both cases of his former teammates, both should pay for their actions.

"They have to pay for what they did. If they are convicted, they should pay for it. And let it serve as a lesson for others not to do so. This is very serious. You have to pay, and after you pay the sentence and get out, you have to be resocialized," said Felipe Melo, who emphasized the education of young people so that this type of case never happens again.
