FC Barcelona once again suffered a terrible loss with Xavi Hernandez. Barca have been eliminated from the Copa del Rey after losing to Athletic Bilbao 4-2 in extra time in the San Mames Stadium. Barca have lost a chance to gain two trophies this season and now remain in two competitions.

Barcelona conceded in the first 40 seconds after Guruzeta scored the opener for Bilbao. Barcelona gave their fans after completing the comeback in the first half. Robert Lewandowski scored one of his strangest goals; sticking his leg out after a Bilbao payer tried clearing the ball from his box. The ball deflected into the net, and the Polish striker equalized.

Lamine Yamal gave FC Barcelona the lead with a great shot from 20 yards out and scoring with his left foot. After his shot, Yamal surprised the Bilbao players since it came from nowhere, and Barca was leading at halftime. Bilbao quickly responded in the second half with another early goal. Oihan Sancet equalized for Bilbao, and the game suddenly got closer.

Yamal had a great chance to send Barca through the semifinals in the 86th minute after going past the Bilbao keeper but sending the bar over the empty net. Bilbao answered the call because the game needed extra time to define a winner. Inaki Williams scores just before the end of the first half of extra time. His brother Nico Williams sealed the game off, scoring the fourth of the night in the last minute of the second half of extra time.

Heavy criticism arrived for Xavi's team as Jules Kounde is labeled as one of the chosen ones to be sold next summer

Barca received many criticisms for their performance against Bilbao and blamed the defense for conceding so many goals as of late. The Barca board is considering selling Jules Koundé this summer, as his value is decreasing & with the emergence of Pau Cubarsí. Kounde often plays right back, which is not his desired position.
