Real Madrid have been applying a recruitment policy for several years that has yielded excellent results: they target young players who prove to be very talented, buy them (if necessary paying a fortune) and then patiently wait for them to be ready to be part of the team in La Liga and Champions League.

That's what they did with stars like Federico Valverde, Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo Goes, Eduardo Camavinga and Aurélien Tchouaméni. And they will do it again this year with Endrick, who will leave Palmeiras for more than $70 million and join the squad in July after his 18th birthday. However, sometimes that doesn't work out well.

Last summer Los Merengues agreed to sign Arda Güler. The Turkish midfielder had excelled at Fenerbahçe despite his young age and had attracted the attention of several European giants. One of them was Barcelona, who according to reports were in advanced negotiations to sign him. But at the last minute Florentino Perez showed up and, with an offer of more than $20 million, changed the minds of the player and his agents and bought him.

But things have not gone well for him since then. In the preseason he suffered a meniscus injury for which he had to undergo surgery and on his return he had two consecutive muscular problems that prevented him from playing. He finally made his debut on January 6 in the third round of the Copa del Rey against Arandina and then played another four games in La Liga and the Super Cup.

He is not satisfied

With just 92 minutes played all season, Arda Güler is disappointed. According to AS, he arrived at Real Madrid with the expectation of earning a place in the team and believes that coach Carlo Ancelotti has not given him enough opportunities. In the January transfer window he turned down loan offers to other clubs, but he may change his mind next summer.
