Manchester City fans have been enjoying their team’s success under Pep Guardiola over the last seven to eight years. The fans fear that his time at the club will end too soon, and according to some reports, it will end very soon. Mail Sport reports that Pep Guardiola is set to leave Man City at the end of next season despite the club wanting him to stay. The Spanish manager has a contract with Man City until the summer of 2025, and the club is planning to offer him a contract extension. It may seem that the Spanish manager will step down as the manager next season and is expected to leave. A name many did not expect to hear as a possible candidate is Jose Mourinho. The ‘Special One’ wants to start coaching again as soon as possible, and with the club potentially starting to look for candidates to replace Guardiola, Mourinho may be a name who could join due to his experience. The Portuguese manager will likely earn a salary near $20 million since Guardiola is paid $21.6 million a year at Man City.
Manchester City will have a year to look for replacements as Guardiola is determined to continue at the club next season. The Spanish coach joined in the summer of 2016 from Bayern Munich and since has coached 472 matches. Throughout those games, Guardiola’s record with Man City is 349 wins, 57 draws, and 66 losses. With Manchester City, he has won a Champions League, a FIFA Club World Cup, six Premier League titles, a UEFA Super Cup, two FA Cups, four English League Cups, and two Community Shields.
Guardiola was upset about the loss in the FA Cup final against Manchester United yesterday, and during the Man City parade today, he told the fans that they would go for the FA Cup next season. Guardiola said, “We will be back. Next season, FA Cup we will take it!”
Guardiola coached a total of 59 matches in this 2023/2024 season with Manchester City. He guided the team with 44 wins, eight draws, and seven losses. Guardiola won the UEFA Super Cup, the FIFA Club World Cup, and the Premier League since last summer. Guardiola held the record for being the first team to win four consecutive Premier League titles.
