Erik Ten Hag slams Liverpool legend for comments on Manchester United games

Manchester United are not having the season they hoped for at the start of August. Man United is currently 6th in the Premier League with 44 points, but the aim is to reach the top four sports to qualify for the Champions League next season. Aston Villa, who are currently fourth, is on 52 points and are 8 points clear of Man United. Manchester United were undefeated in the new year, but a loss against Fulham the previous weekend altered their momentum and could have made the race for the top 4 harder than it was before.

Ten Hag spoke in a press conference today ahead of their 5th round FA Cup game against Nottingham Forest at The City Ground. Ten Hag said, "You are unbeaten for January and February, then you lose one game...Obviously, it was a poor performance, a poor defeat. We want to stay in every competition. That doesn't change our approach because that is for every match. So many more defining moments will be coming up. The first game [vs. Nottingham Forest] is the most important."

Ten Hag defended his players and told the press that they need time to showcase their abilities but also understand that they need to hurry to show ability on the pitch. Ten Hag said, "They [players] need some time but they also have to know in top football you don't get time, you have to perform. When you come in, you have to show it. But as a manager, I know they need the time, that is the paradox. I will give them the time, I believe in these players."

Ten Hag responds to Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher's criticisms of the Man United team

After the Man United vs Fulham game, Jamie Carragher pointed out some of the errors the team makes and blamed it on the coaching staff, including Ten Hag. Carragher said, "You should know your jobs straight from kick-off, and that's down to the coaching staff."
