One of the biggest headlines surrounding Real Madrid this transfer window is the departure of Brazilian striker Endrick. The 19-year-old has officially joined French side Lyon on loan for the remainder of the season. His primary goal is to secure the playing time he lacked during the first half of the 25/26 campaign under Xabi Alonso, where he was largely sidelined by stars like Kylian Mbappé and Gonzalo García. Now, the powerful and versatile forward arrives in Ligue 1 determined to rediscover his best form and contribute to his new club's ambitions.

"It was a major moment for me when Lyon contacted me. It was important for my wife, my family, and my career. My manager, Fred, and I agreed that coming here was the right step. It was essential to play. When God speaks to me, He shows me the path to follow. My head and my heart are here in Lyon. I’ve worked hard to help this team, and I’m grateful to God, the Lyon board, and the staff for their effort."

Reflecting on Real Madrid: Personal Growth Over Minutes

Despite playing only 99 minutes across LaLiga, the Champions League, and the Copa del Rey, Endrick maintains a positive outlook on his brief stint in the Spanish capital, emphasizing his personal maturation.

"Those were the best six months of my life. I had time with my wife and time to build my home. Without those things—without my family and my home—I am nothing. I am a better, more mature person now. I am focused on my work and grateful to everyone who has been part of my journey. I repeat: these six months were the best of my life".

Ancelotti spoke with the brazilian

The young striker revealed that before signing with Lyon, he sought advice from Carlo Ancelotti, the current Brazil national team head coach. Ancelotti recommended the move to ensure Endrick stays in rhythm for a spot in the 26-man squad for the 2026 World Cup in Mexico, the United States, and Canada.

"Yes, I spoke with Ancelotti, and he gave me instructions on how to improve. His advice touched my heart. He told me: 'Go, develop your football, I want you to be happy.' I had already made my decision, but his words were vital. Ancelotti was a great coach at Real Madrid, and I’ve followed all his advice. Now, it’s time to work and help Lyon win. It’s also wonderful that coach Fonseca and his staff speak Portuguese."

Endrick’s highly anticipated debut for Lyon could come as early as Sunday, January 18th, when his side faces Brest in Ligue 1 matchday 18. Lyon currently sits fifth in the standings with 30 points, and the Brazilian’s arrival is expected to provide the offensive spark needed to climb into the Champions League spots.
