Some big-money signings have not lived up to expectations in many big European clubs. Despite not living up to expectations, the players who do not succeed will often go somewhere else to find their old form. This happened to FC Barcelona when they signed three players after the departure of Neymar in 2017. Barcelona signed Antoine Griezmann, Ousmane Dembele, and Philippe Coutinho. All three players joined for over $100 million and they all did not have a great time at the Catalan club.

Philippe Coutinho joined FC Barcelona from Liverpool for over $135 million in January 2018. He was loaned out to Bayern Munich and Aston Villa during his four years at the club. He left Barca in 2022 for Aston Villa and now plays for Al Duhail SC in Qatar. Coutinho talked to Sport TV about his time at Barcelona and says he has no regrets.
Coutinho said, "Do I regret joining Barça? No. At no time. Things didn't go as I imagined, as people expected, as I expected because I am the first to demand myself in the field; I tell myself that I have to give more in the field, etc... I tried everything, and I have always been very professional, and I do not regret anything. It was always my dream to play for Barça and I went there, I enjoyed it, I was able to meet many people, win titles and it will always be in the history of my life.
Coutinho continued and said, "I wouldn't change anything. Going back is impossible, but as I said, I don't regret anything; I always did my best in training as I do here and as I did last year, and as I will do next year. If things fit well, perfect, and if not, patience."

Coutinho gives his thoughts on Xavi leaving the club at the end of the season
Coutinho spoke about Xavi leaving the club at the end of the season. Coutinho said, "Has Xavi made the right decision to leave? I don't know, but what I can talk about Xavi is that he has been a great player, a great coach although I coincided with him for a short time. At the club, they are doing a reformulation, but surely Barça will always be among the greats."
