Before the first whistle blew at Anfield, the famous “You'll Never Walk Alone” anthem rang across the stadium, as usual, and Jurgen Klopp couldn't hold back his smile. He knew he was listening to one of the last YNWA as the Liverpool boss and was taking it all in. Many signs and banners were held in the Kop End with the faces of the German manager.

As intense as ever, Liverpool looked to score early in the game, but the Norwich team were all behind the ball. Joe Gomez was close to scoring his first goal with Liverpool in his career with a dangerous strike towards a goal that was deflected for a corner kick. Gakpo was close to scoring the first goal as well after a great ball by Gravenberch was played in the box, but his Dutch teammate skied the shot over the bar.

Darwin Nunez was the closest to score after a great press by Curtis Jones. The ball fell to Nunez, who curled his shot from outside the box and hit the far post. The Norwich keeper was nowhere near the ball, and it could've been the opener for the Reds.

Nunez was close again when Liverpool made a great counter with a couple of passes. Jota was played on the left and played a beautiful through ball in the middle, but the ball was too quick for Nunez to tap into the net.

Finally, the goal arrived in the 15th minute after a great ball from the Liverpool academy boy James McConnell to Curtis Jones in the box. Jones simply headed the ball past the Norwich keeper and gave Liverpool the early lead. McConnell is playing his first game with Liverpool as a starter this season after debuting in the Europa League. Jones guided the ball to the bottom right corner with a composed header.
