The January transfer window is open, and many clubs seek reinforcements to help upgrade their squad. Although the club is going through an economic crisis, FC Barcelona is still interested in bringing in a few players this winter window.

The Catalan club has been looking for cheap options while they figure out who to sell for. A sale during this transfer window is not rumored, but it could be possible if Barca decides to chase after a few targets they might have in mind.

Barcelona manager Xavi has not counted on summer signing Oriel Romeu for his recent poor form with the team. The Spanish midfielder plays as a defensive midfielder brought in the summer to replace Barca legend Sergio Busquets. Romeu started the 23/24 season well, but a dip in form has caused Xavi to change the team.

Despite not counting on Gavi and Pedri due to injuries, the Spanish manager decided to play Sergi Roberto in the midfield ahead of Romeu. With Pedri back from injury, Romeu seems to not be in the plans for Xavi. One player on their radar is Cristiano Ronaldo's fellow teammate.

Ronaldo`s Portugal teammate Joao Palhinha is interested in joining FC Barcelona

According to SPORT, Joao Palhinha is interested in joining the Barcelona team in the future. The Portuguese midfielder who plays in Fulham signed a 5-year contract extension with the Premier League club last September. The Portuguese player is valued at 60 million euros and reportedly includes no release clause.

Palhinha was heavily linked with Bayern Munich in the summer of 2023. Still, the deal couldn't be completed due to Fulham not finding a suitable replacement for the defensive midfielder in time. Bayern Munich were looking to purchase the player in January, but they might look elsewhere because of the price tag. Barca would need to sell one or two players to make the Palhinha signing possible this winter or in the summer.
