Marcelo Vieira and Cristiano Ronaldo are club legends at Real Madrid because of the many titles they have won for them. The Real Madrid team in the 2010s were almost unstopped after they won three consecutive Champions League from 2016 to 2018. Many football fans remember how effective the team was when the team played in the knockout stages of the Champions League, but throughout some games, there was controversy with referee decisions in their favor. Many football fans were against Real Madrid because of offside goals or favorable decisions going their way. Marcelo remembers the past and admits that a certain decision was wrong but was favorable for Real Madrid.

Marcelo appeared in the Podpah podcast, and he revealed a detail that caused controversy. In the 2016/2017 Champions League season, Real Madrid faced Bayern Munich in the quarterfinals. In the first leg at the Allianz Arena, Real Madrid won 2-1, and in the second leg at the Santiago Bernabeu, Real Madrid won 4-2 in extra time. Real Madrid won 6-3 on aggregate, but the controversy was in the second leg. Cristiano Ronaldo scored a hat-trick against Bayern in the second leg, but two goals were offside.

In the podcast, the host recognized Marcelo for a great assist for Ronaldo in extra time, where he ran past multiple Bayern players and laid the ball to Ronaldo, who tapped it into the net for his hat trick. Marcelo then says, "It was offside. It was. But go complain about it now." Marcelo said he knew it was offside, but he saw the linesman not call for office, and he was relieved. He also said he could've shot the ball to score the said he wanted to pass the ball to Cristiano.

Marcelo had a bad relationship with Ronaldo before

Marcelo was asked about the atmosphere at Real Madrid when they signed two of the best players in Kaka, Cristiano Ronaldo. Marcelo said, "For Cristiano, it was bad - a month ago [Before Ronaldo joined Real Madrid], I had a fight with him and now they've signed him, it looks like they're going to kick me out of the club, but we didn't apologize to each other, what happened was part of the game and we didn't talk about it, we just remember it as a funny situation.”
