Manchester City picked up another two injury concerns in their Champions League win over FC Copenhagen. Jack Grealish went down with a muscular problem just 20 minutes into his first start in over a month, and had to be replaced by Jeremy Doku. In the second half, Bernardo Silva received a “big kick” that also led to an enforced substitution with Pep Guardiola less than impressed on the touchline as Silva tried to continue; Matheus Nunes came on for the closing minutes.

“Bernardo has a big knock in his ankle. I didn’t speak with the doctor but it looks muscular with Jack,” said Guardiola. “The last few days his mood at training was much better. He played really good, he was helping us with the tempo. “You can’t play so fast. You have to find the right moment, the right tempo. He felt it on the grass, started to complain. The players can feel it immediately if it’s muscular. “He wanted to continue but we didn’t want to do damage even worse. We’ll make tests tomorrow.”

Grealish and Silva are joined by Josko Gvardiol on the treatment table, who missed the trip with ankle ligament issues and will be out for a few weeks. However, there was more positive news on Mateo Kovacic, who has missed the last two matches. “Hopefully Bernardo is not a big issue. We’ve got Chelsea at home and recover as quickly as possible. “Kova could come back. Every game and training session we lose players and that is not good.”

Pep Guardiola said that Manchester United and Bayern Munich could testify to how dangerous Copenhagen can be. Manchester City put one foot in the quarter-final of the Champions League as goals from Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva, and Phil Foden earned them a 3-1 win in the Danish capital. The Blues will be heavy favourites to progress with the second leg at the Etihad next month.

Pep's opinion

Pep Guardiola was delighted with the performance of his players and the way they silenced a noisy crowd at Parken. However, he had strong words for anyone tempted to declare the tie over as he made reference to Copenhagen's impressive performance in the group stages that saw them go toe-to-toe with European giants.
