While most players appreciate Pep Guardiola for his influence in the squad, other players have spoken out about his attitude and certain things he has done. Kalvin Phillips is one player who spoke out about Pep Guardiola considering him overweight, and the English midfielder defended himself. Another player, who is still a Manchester City player but out on loan, has spoken about his time at the club and Pep Guardiola.

In an interview with A Bola, Joao Cancelo was asked about his time at Manchester City and his relationship with Pep Guardiola. Cancelo was a crucial player for Guardiola until a run of bad form led to him going out on loan to Bayern Munich, and he is now on loan at FC Barcelona. Cancelo said, "Lies were told! I was never a bad companion for them, and you can ask either Aké or Rico.”

“I think Manchester City were a bit ungrateful to me when they said that, because I was a very important player in the years I was there.
