Liverpool fans are excited to hear the news that their owner, Fenway Sports Group [FSG], has released. FSG confirmed that Liverpool's former sporting director, Michael Edwards, will return to the club and start his new role in the summer. Liverpool has been worried about how they would approach Jurgen Klopp leaving the club at the end of the season along with his staff and their former sporting director, Jorg Schmadtke. Since then, the club has been working to bring back Edwards to the club and now it's confirmed that he has been appointed as the new CEO of Football for FSG.

Edwards has spoken about his return to Liverpool and about his new role within the club. Edwards said, "It was important to me that, if I returned, it would be with renewed vigor and energy. In practice, this means new challenges and opportunities. As such, one of the biggest factors in my decision is the commitment to acquire and oversee an additional club, and to grow and streamline the industry. I believe that in order to remain competitive, investing & expanding in football clubs is crucial." This hints that FSG and Liverpool will be doing something similar to the City Group of Manchester City, which has control of multiple clubs across the world.

Edwards is responsible for bringing in important players to the team, like Mohamed Salah, Virgil Van Dijk, Alisson Becker, Sadio Mane, and Andrew Robertson. In addition to these signings, Edwards said he would try to hire the best possible suitors for the club, such as a new manager or sporting director. Edwards said, "In assuming this role, I fully understand that it comes with great expectations, and I therefore intend to identify, hire, and subsequently empower leaders who meet and embody the club's values and ambitions."
