Bayern's $80 million star can't stand the coach anymore and could go to Man Utd

The German side could lose one of its stars because of the manager's decisions.

He may leave Germany soon.

Bayern Munich are in crisis. Last weekend they suffered a heavy 3-0 defeat against Bayer Leverkusen, their main rivals in the competition for the Bundesliga title this season. That complicated their chances of being champions, as they are now 5 points off the top of the standings with 13 games left.

That defeat came on top of other failures this season, such as the early elimination in the German Cup against third division club Saarbrücken and the German Super Cup final loss to RB Leipzig. This means that their chances of winning a title this year are reduced to just two: catching Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga or winning the Champions League.

Disappointing results and the team's poor performance in some key matches have caused harsh criticism of the players, but especially of coach Thomas Tuchel. And that is not their only problem. In recent months newspapers, TV shows and social media have been full of rumors about alleged conflicts between the manager and some players of the squad, such as Joshua Kimmich, who could leave the club in the near future.

And now another star has joined the fray: Matthijs de Ligt. The Dutch defender arrived in Germany just 18 months ago for $80 million from Juventus, but under Tuchel he has had very little involvement. In fact, this season he was part of the starting lineup just 11 times considering all tournaments, as the manager prefers Kim Min-Jae, Dayot Upamecano and newcomer Eric Dier. Add to that rumors about his alleged bad relationship with Tuchel.

The Red Devils are interested

His poor involvement at Bayern Munich has led De Ligt, according to reports, to consider leaving the club for next season. And that's where Manchester United come in. Coach Erik Ten Hag is often interested in players he has managed at other clubs, most notably Ajax, such as Lisandro Martinez, Antony and Andre Onana. In addition, in the summer they will surely look for a centre-back, considering that Raphael Varane and Victor Lindelof could leave.
