Bayern Munich and Liverpool seem to be the main clubs that are likely able to convince Xabi Alonso to join either team next season. Alonso has become one of the best managers in Europe, and his team, Bayer Leverkusen, remains undefeated in all competitions so far this season. The season is soon ending, and Alonso could achieve a historic season with Bayer Leverkusen as they plan to finish the season undefeated by winning a treble that includes the Bundesliga, the German Cup, and the Europa League. While Liverpool and Bayern Munich are battling for his signature, there is a chance the Spanish manager could decide to stay with Leverkusen next season to coach them in the Champions League.

One of the options Bayern Munich was considering was appointing Julian Nagelsmann, which would be an odd choice since the club fired him last year. Bayern Munich wouldn't have much choice as the German coach is only contacted to manage the German national team for the Euros and then be free after the tournament ends. Bayern Munich wouldn't have to pay a fee to any club since he will be a free agent.

Bayern CEO Dreesen said “never rule anything out in football” when asked about Julian Nagelsmann’s return. Julian Nagelsmann also said the game and said, “Jan-Christian Dreesen’s answer is clever. Never ruling things out is part of football.” Although Bayern could consider re-appointing him, the German Football Association is considering offering a contract extension. DFB president Bernd Neuendorf said, "I don't think there would be anything against that from our side. But we have to talk to each other, and I am very confident that we will quickly reach a result. The coach’s wish is to have clarity before the Euros - we will not ignore this wish."
