Arsenal are on the hunt for a new striker to bolster their attacking options following Gabriel Jesus' injury and Kai Havertz's recent dip in form. While the Gunners have been linked with Newcastle United's Alexander Isak, journalist Charles Watts believes a move for RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko is more likely.
Sesko, a highly-rated 21-year-old Slovenian striker, has been a long-term target for Arsenal. Despite signing a new contract with Leipzig in the summer, Watts believes Arsenal still have a strong chance of securing his services, potentially as early as the summer of 2025.
"Sesko still feels like the most likely one for me I have to say," Watts told CaughtOffSide. "His decision to stay at Leipzig in the summer and sign a new deal did not put Arsenal off. In fact it’s a decision we know they understood, whilst obviously being disappointed."
While Arsenal are interested in Isak, Watts has highlighted three major obstacles that could prevent a deal from materializing:
With Arsenal facing stiff competition for Isak, Sesko appears to be the more realistic target for the Gunners at this time. However, the club will need to remain patient and prepare a strong offer to secure the services of the talented young striker.
