Liverpool continued their dominant form in the Premier League with a resounding 6-3 victory over Tottenham Hotspur. Luis Díaz and Mohamed Salah were the stars of the show, each netting a brace, but manager Arne Slot was quick to temper expectations.
Slot, while pleased with the result, emphasized the collective effort that led to the victory. "It was a very good performance, perhaps our best away from home, although I also enjoyed what I saw against Manchester United," Slot said in his post-match press conference. "We dominated the game and created many, many chances, so it was a very good away game as well."
While Díaz and Salah rightfully received praise for their goals, Slot was keen to highlight the contributions of other players, particularly Dominik Szoboszlai. "Mo (Salah) and Lucho (Díaz), they both got two goals and maybe they are the ones who stand out because of their braces, but I think we would not do justice to Dom (Szoboszlai)'s performance if we don't mention him as well because, besides the offensive things he did, he was good without the ball and was an important part of our game plan," Slot expressed.
The manager went on to emphasize the importance of teamwork in creating scoring opportunities. "Yes, everyone looks at the ones who score the goals, but if you look again (and that's definitely what I'm going to do), most of the goals started with the center-backs or the full-backs. I think every step before each goal was multiple passes. So, it's not just the ones who score but also the ones who help to create."
Despite the emphatic win, Slot remains focused on the bigger picture. The Dutchman is keen to avoid complacency, recognizing the challenges that lie ahead in the Premier League. His measured response to the team's impressive performance highlights his experience and his ability to keep the players grounded. As Liverpool continues to dominate, Slot's leadership will be crucial in ensuring the team maintains its high standards throughout the season.
