There is no doubt that Lionel Messi's arrival at Inter Miami has forever changed the club's short history. The Argentine star made the decision to leave European soccer after a brief stint at Paris Saint-Germain and having conquered everything with FC Barcelona. Like Cristiano Ronaldo, Messi had the opportunity to move to Saudi Arabia and become the highest paid player in the world, but opted to come to MLS.

His decision was mostly due to the convenience of living in Miami, as well as the promise from David Beckham and the other owners of the club that they would do their best to make him happy, and boy, have they delivered. Since Lionel Messi joined Inter Miami, the Florida team has signed several players who, while they have the quality to shine there, stand out because they are friends of the Argentine.

Inter Miami has signed three of Messi's former teammates from his time with Barcelona: Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba and Luis Suarez, the latter being considered one of Messi's best friends. However, it seems that they are not going to stop there and now they have confirmed the arrival of another player that will undoubtedly make their great star very happy, because it is a compatriot of his, another Argentine.

Through social networks, Inter Miami made official the arrival of Marcelo Weigandt, who joins the MLS club on loan from Boca Juniors, one of the most important teams in Argentina and South America. The release details that 'Chelo' will be with Lionel Messi's club for the remainder of the 2024 MLS season. Weigandt is a right back defender and is valued at 1.8 million euros according to the Transfermarkt portal.
