Many fans are mourning the loss of legendary anime/manga artist Akira Toriyama today, who died at 68. He is the creator of the legendary anime Dragon Ball Z, which has impacted many fans, including footballers. Many football fans are also big Dragon Ball Z fans and have seen some connections between them when they watch football games. AC Milan joined the condolences for Toriyama as they posted an edited image of Theo Hernandez and Rafael Leao doing the fusion celebration on Instagram. Athletic Bilbao also posted on X about the loss of Akira Toriyama and a video of the Williams brothers, Inaki and Nico Willaims, who are doing the fusion celebration. Borussia Dortmund also posted on their social media page, writing, “Thank you for everything, Akira Toriyama. Your legacy lives on.” with a picture of Achraf Hakimi and Marco Reus doing a celebration relating to the anime series.

The Argentina national team sent their condolences for Akira Toriyama on Instagram

On Instagram, the English page of the Argentina national team posted an image of Lionel Messi when he had blonde hair. The captain read, "Super Saiyan Leo. Thank You, Akira Toriyama."

Messi actually revealed why he had blonde hair in 2016 in an interview with Argentine comedian Mingo at the “Polemica en el bar” show on the Telefe network. Messi said, "One particularly tough day, I dyed my hair. I had to start again from scratch. I said to myself, ‘I have to make a clean break and start over.’" Messi and Argentina lost the 2016 Copa America Centenario final against Chile that year.
