FC Barcelona will struggle to sign any new players this summer transfer window as the Catalan club will need to sell important players in order to make big signings. The club has been looking for potential players to bring in, but now reports suggest that they want to sign Villarreal striker Alexander Sorloth. The Norwegian striker became La Liga’s top goalscorer after scoring four past Real Madrid in the 4-4 draw yesterday at the Estadio de la Cerámica. Sorloth now has 23 goals in 33 La Liga matches this season, and his market value is currently at $11 million, according to Transfermarkt. Futbol Total reports that if FC Barcelona wants to sign Sorloth this summer to replace Robert Lewandowski, the transfer fee would be around $32 to $37 million.

Reports from Relevo suggest that Sorloth wants to stay at Villarreal since he just became a father. Sorloth has a clause in his contract worth more than $40 million, but the player’s desire to stay could keep clubs like FC Barcelona away. The Norwegian striker has played in seven different countries in the last ten years, and Villarreal is not playing European football next season, which won’t affect his attitude towards staying. Sorloth joined Villarreal last summer for over $10 million from RB Leizpig, who sent him on loan to Real Sociedad for two years prior to joining Villarreal.

Lewandowski played a total of 48 matches in all competitions with FC Barcelona this season, scoring 25 goals and providing nine assists. In 34 La Liga matches, the Polish striker scored 18 goals and had eight assists. He is five goals away from Sorloth in the Pichichi race but the Norwegian striker now seems to be the heavy favorite to win the award as there is one La Liga matchday left.
