Lionel Messi and the Argentine National Team celebrate 9 months since the feat in Qatar. The Argentine team emerged world champion with great merit in the most recent edition of the World Cup. It was the first time for Messi after losing a final in 2014. However, there has been criticism about a certain type of favoritism or lack of merit towards the Argentine team in said competition. One of the critics was the Dutch coach Van Gaal, who said that the tournament was made for Messi to win the Cup.

Argentina and the Netherlands met in the quarterfinals of the World Cup in a match where Messi shone and was key to eliminating the Dutch. This match had to be decided on penalties, and the different frictions that occurred in this match also stood out a lot. After that, it was often thought that FIFA was permissive with Argentina, a point made by the Dutch coach himself. However, now, a German football legend sends a strong message upon seeing the constant criticism towards Messi and Argentina after winning the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. After this match, Argentina beat Croatia in the semifinals and France in one of the best finals in the history of a World Cup.

"I really don't want to say much about it. When you see how Argentina scores the goals and how we score the goals and how some Argentine players crossed the line and were not penalized, I think it's all premeditated," Van Gaal said a few days ago when they asked him about the match between Argentina and the Netherlands in the 2022 World Cup.

What message did they send to Van Gaal?

Oliver Kahn, former goalkeeper of Bayern Munich and the German national team, gave his opinion on what Louis said. "I know Van Gaal and sometimes he talks a lot. Maybe he had some problems with Messi. I watched Argentina's matches in the World Cup and for me it was incredible to see a team fighting and giving everything so that Messi could be world champion," he said. After Van Gaal's phrase, some of his players during the World Cup had differentiated themselves, such as Van Dijk, who said that Van Gaal's words were not what the players of the Dutch National Team thought.
