The Brazilian Football Association (CBF) announced that Real Madrid's superstar Vinicius Jr. has been taken out of Brazil's squad to face Bolivia and Peru in the first two matches in 2026 World Cup's Qualifiers. The news come after the Spanish team confirmed Vinicius suffered a thigh injury that will leave him off the pitch for a variety of matches.

Vinicius was set to become Brazil's main star in the next matches of the ‘canarinha’ as he's one of the best players in the world and other players like Gabriel Jesus, Neymar and Lucas Paquetá were left out of the squad due to injuries and other reasons.

Brazil's staff contacted Real Madrid since Vinicius left the pitch injured against Celta Vigo to see if there was a possibility for ‘Vini’ to recover and play for Brazil in September. However, that was impossible after some medical tests were performed on Vinicius' injury.

Who will replace Vinicius in Brazil?

Head coach Fernando Diniz confirmed that the Barcelona winger Raphinha will make a return to the Brazil's squad to replace Vinicius Jr. after the injury. Raphinha was a key player for Brazil during the last World Cup, being a starter in 4 of the 5 matches the team played.
