FC Barcelona has been involved in a new controversy with the so-called Negreira case. The Catalan team would have been accused of allocating funds to the former vice president of the referee committee in Spain and in exchange, they would have received favorable refereeing incidents in their matches during their time in charge. One of the most recent news was that the court in charge of the case had charged the club with the crime of bribery.

When the three-time Champions League champion strategist was asked about his opinion on the case, he responded immediately to the question that we should wait for the resolution of the court case in Spain. "Wait and see. This is what happened against us, when everyone accused, when everyone did something bad. Let's let justice or the process do it and the other...“, were Pep's words. “That's why I want to wait before giving my opinion.”

Afterwards, the Catalan coach continued explaining that he doubts that the accusations are true and that to win in Spain it is necessary to be better than the rival, which he claims was happening.
"What I am sure of is that if Barcelona won, and to win in Spain you must do much, much better than the other teams, when Barcelona won it was because we were better than the opponents, of that I am quite convinced right now," was Guardiola's statement.

What else did Pep Guardiola say?

“So we won because we were much better than our rivals, that's the reason. And when we weren't, we didn't win, they lost," said the two-treble winner coach. The Manchester City team recently lost its undefeated record against Wolverhampton in a match that ended 2-1 in favor of the locals. With this, the club loses the perfect pace it had been having in the competition. The home team's goals fell at 13' (Rúben Dias' own goal) and 66' (Hwang Hee-Chan), while the goal for Guardiola's team was scored by the Argentine striker, Julián Álvarez, at minute 58' from a free kick on the edge of the area.
