The unexpected club Messi would go if he doesn’t renew with PSG, it’s not Barcelona

The Argentine has admirers from afar who would love to give him a fresh challenge.

The Argentine has admirers from afar who would love to give him a fresh challenge.

We all thought Lionel Messi would end his playing career at Barcelona. However, the Catalan club bungled that one, resulting in the Argentine moving to France. He is setting Ligue 1 alight in his second year at the French capital even at 35 years of age. The reality is that his contract runs out in 2023, at which point he will be free to go wherever he pleases.

The MLS has pined after Messi for a long time, with negotiations having taken place between the player's father and Inter Miami. After the World Cup, Messi will be free to sign a pre-contract with any team he would like. Signing Messi would establish David Beckham's club as a global destination for top players.

The surprising reaction of the French press to Messi's possible departure from PSG

This is what PSG will do to prevent Lionel Messi from going to Barça or MLS

“I've always said I want the best players in our club,” admits Beckham, and with three Designated Player spots opening up, he can make three big signings. The difficulty would be in convincing Messi to join the American project, but luckily the Miami management have already opened negotiations with Messi senior.

Another advantage is that Miami offers a heavily South American culture, so there will be no language barrier or culture shock for the player and his family. They have visited the city often so they would be comfortable there. Miami is also a shorter flight to Argentina, allowing Messi to extend his international career and spend time with his extended family.

How serious is Messi about America?

Messi has stated in the past that he would entertain the idea of living in the US. In 2020, he said, “I have the impression that I would like to enjoy the experience of living in the United States, of living in that league and that life.” If the little maestro was serious, his opportunity to turn those word into reality could be just around the corner.
