Liverpool trail Napoli by three points in Champions League Group A but James Milner says his team has what it takes to be great again. The Merseyside veteran says that all starts against Napoli at Anfield on Tuesday. While Liverpool's form in Europe hasn;t been too bad it's at home in Premier League where they've really been suffering.

Liverpool are currently ninth on 16 points from their first 12 games this season. Defensive frailties and the absence of Sadio Mane have caused tough times for the 19-time champions, speaking to the club Milner says the next 90 minutes are important; “I think the next game is always the one we focus on and one where you can start a good run and get that consistency and confidence back.”

He says the club is working on improving “I think if it was one easy fix you'd know and you'd fix it,” Milner said “Obviously, to be a successful football team, there are so many little things you need to do well – and at this moment in time, we're not doing enough of those consistently enough. We have shown very good performances this year, but we haven't had that consistency and that's something we need to improve.”

Solid as a rock

Milner has played all but one game for Liverpool this season, 11 of 12 in England and all five Champions League fixtures. He has the club record for appearances in the Premier League with 589 and will know all too well the cycles that a football team goes through, which is why his encouragement is important to the rest of the squad.
