The sports businessman who must pay a fine equivalent to 16 years of Messi's work

Lionel Messi receives a great salary, but for some big businessmen it is a handout.

Lionel Messi enjoys a significant salary at Inter Miami. However, it is much less than what they offered from Saudi Arabia, more precisely from Al-Hilal. Had he accepted the millions of dollars offered to him in the Middle East, the Argentine would have become, by far, the highest paid athlete of all time. However, both he and his family preferred to settle in a city where the culture is much closer to their customs.

At Inter Miami he already demonstrated all his abilities. Beyond the great performance he displayed on the field, Leo Messi could not get his team into the Major League Soccer Playoffs. The mission was almost impossible since, when Messi arrived at the state of Florida, the team was last in the Eastern Conference. Likewise, he was able to lead the pink club to win the first title in its history: the Leagues Cup. All of this, Inter Miami was able to achieve thanks to the management of David Beckham, who convinced the world champion to join his project. In order to pay the salary, the Florida franchise had to put together an economic engineering in line with what Messi was used to earning in Europe.

However, the 50 million dollars per season that the world champion settled seems little when compared to the fine that Bernie Ecclestone will have to pay. The English tycoon was, for many years, the head of Formula 1, one of the most profitable sports franchises in the world. Now, at 92 years old, the English court sentenced him to pay a fine whose figures are surprising. In addition, they imposed a sentence of 17 months in prison, although it was not effectively served.

The fine that Ecclestone must pay

The English tycoon admitted to having hidden much of his assets for a long time. What Bernie Ecclestone will have to pay is an amount in pounds sterling that is equivalent to more than 790 million dollars. That large amount of money is almost 16 times more than what Lionel Messi earns at Inter Miami. The conviction comes because Ecclestone had more than 450 million euros in an account in Singapore that, until now, he had not recognized.
