Manchester United are not having an easy time in the current transfer window. Their Premier League season opener is not helping either, with booing echoing in Old Trafford in the defeat to Brighton. The signings of top players such as Frenkie de Jong or the talented Benjamin Sesko are still frustrated, and the Cristiano Ronaldo situation has ended up affecting the club's sporting planning. Now it is Adrien Rabiot and Marko Arnautovic who are close to signing for the Red Devils, according to reports from England.

Both are lower-profile players who will not represent a big investment for the club. In the case of Rabiot, his situation at Juventus seems to have an expiration date entering his last year of contract. Arnautovic has been out of the Premier League for several seasons, with a brief spell in China, and currently plays for Serie A side Bologna. According to 'The Athletic', the English side have offered €8 million for him.

Cristiano Ronaldo began on the bench in United's defeat, what will his role be?

The option of the former West Ham player appears as an urgent solution for Ten Hag, who is looking to expand his attacking options before the market closes. The Austrian striker could provide the alternative to Ronaldo and Martial, as the —false— ‘9’ of the 'Red Devils' against Brighton surprisingly was Christian Eriksen. The option of Benjamin Sesko, RB Salzburg striker, seems to be ruled out because he will continue one more year at his club.

While the case with Frenkie de Jong remains on 'stand by', the second option for the coach is Adrien Rabiot. The French midfielder is a much cheaper alternative to the Dutchman, for whom the 'Red Devils' agreed last July a price of 85 million euros.

United need to move quickly

United will have until September 1 to reinforce their squad as best they can in order to regain confidence and improve practically all lines. A leader in the midfield would be a blessing for the team.
