The Paris Saint Germain (PSG) football club is owned by a Qatar-based investment group, and they have recently expressed interest in purchasing the Spanish football club Espanyol. This has caused some concern in Barcelona, as Espanyol is one of their biggest rivals. It remains to be seen how Barcelona will handle this situation.
But it will be more interesting to see if the Qataris are successful in their purchase of Espanyol. La Liga's president Javier Tebas has been an open critic of PSG's owner, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, for the Qatari's comments about the financial situation of Espanyonl's rivals, Barcelona. Let's remember the Catalans had a busy summer.

Savic’s decision: to stay at Lazio or to leave for PSG
Although most of the press in Spain reported the club led by Joan Laporta was basically bankrupt, the new Barcelona president managed to pull financial tricks to have enough money for big signings like Jules Koundé, Raphinha, and the legendary Polish striker Robert Lewandowski.
Espanyol is, of course, one of Barcelona's biggest rivals. If PSG's owners were to buy them, it would make sense for them to try and make the club as strong as possible. That would likely mean big-money signings and a push for trophies - something that would no doubt put pressure on Barcelona.
