Brazil's squad for Qatar 2022 has been announced. The Selecao are looking in formidable shape heading into FIFA’s first ever winter edition World Cup, despite having underwhelmed with quarter-final exits in 2006, 2010 and 2018, as well as semi-final humiliation in 2014, since their last triumph in 2002. However, there’s good reason to think that Tite’s side will be there or thereabouts this time around because to say that their squad is stacked would be the mother of all understatements.
Over the last couple of years, France have been the talk of the town when it comes to outrageous squad depth and while that’s still the case to a large extent, Brazil are giving them a serious run for their money right now. It feels as though there’s hardly a top team in men’s football that doesn’t have a stellar Brazilian player – poised to make a real impact at FIFA’s showpiece event – at the very heart of it at the moment.

Mixing a stellar cocktail of experienced stars like Thiago Silva, Neymar and Dani Alves with thrilling young talents such as Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo, the powers that be in the Brazil setup seem to have struck gold with their selection.

Plus, the forever-exciting Gabriel Martinelli got the nod in the end despite rumours swirling around that even his electric performances for Arsenal wouldn’t be enough to secure him a seat on the plane. However, it’s his Arsenal teammate and namesake Gabriel who will have to watch the tournament from home, while other Brazilian stars will also have been left disappointed such is the fierce level of competition right now.
