PSG's president, Nasser Al-Khelaïfi has been the face of nightmares for FC Barcelona for quite some time. The Qatari businessman has been responsible for PSG's growth and development since the team was bought by the enterprise Oryx Qatar Sports Investments.

Now, Spanish sources to El Nacional have confirmed that the Qatari businessman has an order to pursue the purchase of a La Liga team that has a direct rivalry with FC Barcelona and will be the group's ultimate weapon towards the Catalan club.

Although he's wanted by Europe's greatest clubs, this is why the new Vinicius will play at Real Madrid

El Nacional confirmed to a local news stream this afternoon that Nasser Al-Khelaïfi has been ordered by his bosses in Oryx Qatar Sports Investments to make a move for the Catalan club Espanyol. This club is FC Barcelona's prime rival in Catalunya and this would be the prime motivation for the club's purchase by the Qatari investors.

The news came from the source Foot en Espagne and has been confirmed to be true. This new low blow from the Qatari businessman comes after he snatched two of FC Barcelona's stars from their hands. First it was Neymar in 2017 and then it was Messi in 2022.

Can Espanyol be the Spanish PSG?

Espanyol isn't one of the top clubs in La Liga but it can become a very fierce competitor if the Qatari investors make this move a reality. The Qatari Emir could acquire the Catalan club and make a shift similar to what happened in PSG back in 2011. The French club wasn't a fierce competitor in Ligue 1 and since the Qatari company invested in it, they became France's top club, won 8 leagues and 6 cups and reached their first UEFA Champions League final. All thanks to Qatari money and the stars they brought.
