While Lionel Messi and PSG are in the spotlight for their great start to the new campaign, Cristiano Ronaldo has again added more controversy to his present in United. Now, the superstar striker ignored a former player in the middle of an interview, played only a few minutes in the English derby against Liverpool and his role in Man United is increasingly in doubt.

Last season Cristiano Ronaldo had a better individual season than Messi, shining as Man United’s only star. But this new season has brought new light and new air to Lionel Messi who at the moment is enjoying himself a lot more than Ronaldo, who continues to live amid controversy in England.

Why United played better without Cristiano Ronaldo in the win over Liverpool

Ronaldo's current form is far from that of Messi, who has three goals in Ligue 1 and two assists, in addition to winning the French Super Cup (his 41st title trophy).

Cristiano's position at Manchester United is not uncontested, though. He didn't finish preseason since he was looking for a new team, played as a substitute in the first game, and only saw 10 minutes of action in United’s massive win over Liverpool. Before the match against Liverpool began, he also faced a new dispute.

Ronaldo chose to disregard Carragher after critics

Former English football player Jamie Carragher now serves as a panelist for Sky Sports. He criticized Cristiano on several occasions. The United superstar opted to ignore the former Liverpool and greeted the other Sky Sports pundits such as Gary Neville and Roy Keane.
