Atletico Madrid were stunning during their visit to Rayo Vallecano's Vallecas Stadium for the Matchday 3 of La Liga. Cholo Simeone's side won 0-7 in an absolute brilliant match of the team that is now second in the standings, behind Real Madrid.
Griezmann opened the score in the second minute of the match and Depay doubled the lead 14 minutes after. Molina, Morata (x2), Correa and Llorente also put their names on the scoring sheet for a historic 7-0 win against Rayo.
However, everything is not good news for Simeone as something alarming happened during the match. In the 34th minute, Depay was subbed off due to an injury in the area of his right glute, according to the gestures of the attacker.
Memphis has a concerning history of injuries that may concern Atletico fans and his team mates in Spain. Last season he was left out of 10 games due to muscular and calf injuries. That adds up to his Barcelona days when he was injured almost all season long.
The Dutch was a starter in the last two matches for Atletico Madrid and had scored in both as he was becoming a lethal threat in ‘Los Colchoneros’ attack. However, the injuries are definitely not gone for Depay. Memphis was able to leave the field on his own, being replaced by Álvaro Morata (who scored a brace), but a medical report is expected in the next few hours to determine the extent of his injury.
