Robbie Fowler has given his verdict on Darwin Nunez's start to life at Liverpool - and believes the Reds have signed a "fantastic" footballer. Nunez completed a big-money move to Anfield from Benfica in the summer transfer window, joining up with Jurgen Klopp's side after impressing during his last season in Portugal. The 23-year-old has made 13 appearances for Liverpool so far, and Fowler, who scored 183 goals in 369 appearances during his time at Liverpool between 1993 and 2001, has been impressed with what he's seen from Nunez so far.

Robbie Fowler is impressed with what he's seen from Darwin Nunez at Liverpool so far. The Uruguayan forward is still adjusting to life in England, but Fowler is confident that he will be a success at Anfield. Nunez has struggled to make an impact at Liverpool so far and has failed to start consistently for the club. The striker arrived from Benfica for a fee of 100 million dollars in the summer but has not been able to live up to the expectations that came with his price tag.

Fowler believes that Nunez needs time to adjust to his new surroundings and settle into English football, but insists that he is a "fantastic player" who will come good in time. The former Liverpool striker also believes that Nunez should be given more opportunities to prove himself in the starting team, as he is still adjusting to life at Anfield.

What Fowler thinks Nunez needs to work on

He said via Liverpool Echo: "Liverpool have signed Darwin Nunez, don't get me wrong he's a fantastic player, he really is, but he hasn't hit the ground running, not yet. It might be due to him not getting a good run of games, Nunez has started a few then missed out with little niggles, he's not had the momentum". There is no doubt that Nunez has bags of potential, and if he can continue to develop his game, there is no reason why he cannot become one of the best strikers in world football.
