Real Madrid has retaken the victory path after a disastrous loss against Atletico Madrid, but with today’s 2-0 win over UD Las Palmas, the Merengues have retaken the path to victory and are now in the second position of La Liga’s standings, displacing FC Barcelona to the third place, but Girona still leads the tournament with 19 points.

Real Madrid had a tough encounter with UD Las Palmas, one the two teams with less point against (6) throughout the whole tournament, nevertheless, Brahim Diaz and Joselu were able to score against Alvaro Valle (Las Palmas goalkeeper), and managed to obtain the victory they needed to remain in the battle.

However, Real Madrid suffered two great losses in today’s match. David Alaba had to be substituted at the first half due to a muscular injury that may prevent him from seeing any action in the next two important games (Girona and Napoli for the next UEFA date). Lucas Vazquez got into the pitch to substitute him and will probably be a first trier until Alaba recovers.

Nevertheless, during the postgame press conference, Carlo Ancelotti  has confirmed Rüdiger is also injured, “Rüdiger is injured, he thinks it is a blow and will be available for the next game and David Alaba has had an abductor problem, I think he will not be in the next game.” said the Italian manager on Rüdiger status.

What’s next for Real Madrid?

With two great goals scored by Brahim Diaz and Joselu, Real Madrid achieved their seventh victory of the Spanish tournament and has scaled up to the second place of the standings, with Girona above them, and Barcelona had been displaced onto the third position.

Real Madrid will have a pretty tight schedule ahead when they go up against Girona (leader of the standings who remains undefeated) on Saturday the 30th; next up will be facing Napoli, actual champion of the A Series, for their second appointment of the UEFA Champions League; but for the next week of La Liga, will have a more easy game when they face Osasuna on Saturday October 7th.
