Lionel Messi arrived in the United States six months ago, and since his arrival, he has revolutionized soccer in the country. Soccer in the United States is not even the third most popular sport in the country, being above the NBA, the NFL and the MLB. In addition, he arrived at a relatively new team, such as David Beckham's Inter Miami.

Lionel Messi earns around 54 million euros combining salary and sponsorships, since he signed a very complete contract with several ways to receive income. He is, by far, the highest-paid player in Major League Soccer. Now, it has been revealed how Messi was convinced to join Miami.

Jorge Mas, who is a majority shareholder of Inter, revealed what was the question he asked Messi to finish convincing him to wear pink. In conversation with The Times, the leader said: "I told him: 'How many elite athletes have had the opportunity to change a sport in a country?'"

What else did Jorge say?

"He is transformative for the sport in the United States. This is just the beginning. His presence, in the medium and long term, will demonstrate over time that this league belongs to one of the best leagues in the world."
