David De Gea's future seems to finally not be in the MLS. The Spanish goalkeeper left Manchester United in the summer of 2023 in a certainly unexpected way after he did not reach an agreement with the club to renew his contract. Now, it is revealed that the player seems to already have a new destiny after 6 months of inactivity.
Although David De Gea expected an offer from Saudi Arabia that would allow him to pocket around 20 million euros per season, either because said proposal has not reached him or because he has decided to continue in the Premier League, the Madrid native is willing to approach positions with the Newcastle. The Magpies had tempted the 33-year-old goalkeeper after Nick Pope's injury but he was not convinced by having to reduce his salary, he did not renew his contract with Manchester United in the summer because he refused to do so, nor did he agree to sign only until the end of the season.
However, as The Telegraph now reveals, David De Gea has accepted and is willing to commit to Newcastle until the end of this season, adjusting to the English team's budget. The reality is that the Spanish goalkeeper became one of the best in the world and still had a lot of material to continue competing in an important way in England, but the English team preferred Onana.
Newcastle legend Alan Shearer recently encouraged the Magpies to sign David De Gea. Asked about signing him, he said: “Yes, I would sign him. I think Newcastle need a goalkeeper and De Gea is there. I know the salary would be enormous, but they wouldn't have to pay a transfer for him.”
