Inter Miami has placed significantly in recent MLS matches, however, it was present against Atlanta United in a match where Gerardo Martino's team has certainly been surpassed. This is Inter Miami's first defeat after the arrival of Lionel Messi in the MLS. The team ended up losing 5-2 in a match where Messi could not play due to certain physical discomfort with the Argentine team.

It seemed that the Florida team did not feel the absence of its best player because the first 30 minutes were really very good. It was even during that period that he took the lead when the Ecuadorian Dixon Arroyo took a long-distance shot that burst the crossbar and whose rebound fell to his compatriot Leonardo Campana. The center forward took all the time in the world because he dominated the ball, threw a hat at his mark in the area and then he volleyed to shout 1-0.

However, things did not go well for Miami, who were beaten 3-1 by the end of the first half. In the second half, Inter Miami managed to reduce the lead thanks to a penalty goal from Leandro Campana. However, Atlanta United did not lose their head and settled everything after certain defensive errors by Inter Miami. Giakoumakis was able to score the fourth after a great collective action at full speed that ended with the forward pushing the ball almost under the goal.

What's next for Inter Miami?

Inter Miami will enter the duel next Wednesday, September 20, at the DRV PNK Stadium, against Toronto for the MLS with a 13-day break. The agenda will pit them against the current bottom of the Eastern Conference that day, then they will play the visiting classic against Orlando City (9/24) and finally lead to the final of the U.S. Cup on Wednesday, September 27. Open Cup against the Houston Dynamo that could add a new crown to its large showcase.
