Club América is in mourning due to the loss of one of its players who made a mark on the club. The former soccer player is remembered for having snatched a title from Chivas in the 1953-54 season. Other of his achievements would be in the Mexican team where he played in the 1962 World Cup in Chile. He now sadly passed away at the age of 90.
América and Chivas became staunch rivals from the beginning and this caused it to become the National Classic. It was in the 50's, when Sebastián Farfán put on the cream-blue shirt and set out to change history when he won a title for the Herd. It was the Copa México, the same one that had to be played via penalties.
América and Chivas tied on points to define the champion, they played a single match, the same one that América took with a great intervention by Sebastián Farfán. Unfortunately, the former American player passed away at the age of 90. America sent him his condolences through social networks.
Chava Farfán was the father of former players Gonzalo and Gabriel Farfán, who shone in America decades after their father's. Sebastián Farfán leaves an important legacy in America, since said Copa México would be the beginning of the greatest rivalry in Mexican soccer.
Salvador Farfán, in addition to winning the Mexico Cup in the 1953-54 season with América, participated in the Mexican team in the 1962 World Cup in Chile. During said ecumenical fair he did not have minutes, but he was part of the Mexican team. Among the teams that he defended were Atlante and Zacatepec.
