Although Lionel Scaloni, coach of the Argentine team, had practically defined the list that will travel to Qatar for the World Cup, there was hope in a certain sector of the fans that the name of Alejandro Garnacho would be the surprise in the final call. However, the manager excluded the young winger, who wanted to be with Lionel Messi and reacted through social networks.

Scaloni socialized the list of 26 players who will represent Argentina in the Qatar World Cup, where Albiceleste will face Arabia in the group stage Saudi Arabia, Mexico and Poland. With Giovani Lo Celso out, the Copa América champion coach excluded Ángel Correa and closed the call.

In social networks there was expectation to see if Aleiandro Garnacho got involved in a surprising way. His foray into the Manchester United first team, plus his decision to represent Argentina despite being born in Spain, added up points for a hypothetical call.

However, the winger was not summoned and he will have to wait until the World Cup 2026, a tournament which will be finally be held in North America, between Mexico, Canada and mostly in the United States of America. There, Aleiandro Garnacho will have a bigger chance of playing with Argentina, however, maybe it will have to be without Messi…

Garnacho's response to Scaloni's exclusion:

The young attacker, who has a bright future in Europe and has already represented the Albiceleste Sub 20, shared on Instagram the best moments of him in the League Cup against Aston Villa. Coincidence or not, Garnacho posted his great performance in England after learning of Scaloni's list.
