The world of football is in mourning and the Santiago Bernabéu joined in the preview of Real Madrid's match against Getafe in the framework of matchday 34 of LaLiga. All the fans present observed a minute of silence and showed all their respect to the family of Arsenio Iglesias who lost his life.

Last Friday, Arsenio Iglesias died at the age of 92. The Galician former coach and footballer spent his last years fighting against Parkinson's, after a lifetime linked to football that made him especially famous in the 1990s. He went down in history, above all, for his time as coach of Deportivo de La Coruña between 1987 and 1995.

He put Depor at the top by winning the Copa del Rey in 1995 and two runners-up in the League, in 1994 and 1995. The first of them, the famous penalty missed by Djukic. He also had his trajectory as a player. His professional debut was in 1951 against Barcelona wearing the colors of La Coruña and he managed to score a goal that day.

His past at Real Madrid as coach

Beyond his achievements with 'SuperDepor', Iglesias also led Real Madrid in 19 games in 1996 with 10 wins, 4 draws and 5 losses. Throughout his career on the bench, teams like Zaragoza, Hércules, Burgos and Elche were others that passed through his hands, although the one in which he built his legend, above all, was the Depor.
