Ever since Manchester City beat Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League final in Istanbul, Turkey, the future of İlkay Gündoğan has been a mystery. The German became a key figure in the English squad, to such an extent that he ranks third among the scorers; below Julián Álvarez and Erling Haaland.
One of the clubs that could want the German would be FC Barcelona. The Catalan squad seeks to strengthen the midfield, for which they would be willing to sign him. FCB will participate in the Champions League next season and intends to be champions again, as in the 2014/15 season.
Gündoğan ends his contract with Manchester City at the end of this month (June). Within the Premier League he played 31 games, converting a total of eight goals and five assists. In the Champions League he scored just one goal and in the FA Cup he scored twice.
The German would be among the main signings that Paris Saint Germain could do. The Ligue 1 squad is receiving many casualties, including the departure of Lionel Messi and the warning from Kylian Mbappé stating that he will not renew. PSG would be willing to pay more than 40 million euros for İlkay Gündoğan. The midfielder would take Mbappé's place, if they continue to form on the pitch with the 4-4-2 strategy.
