He is a young promise from Barcelona and now costs a billion euros

FC Barcelona is looking forward to a massive restructure of the organization, as they have signed great players in the summer window market, like Joao Felix, that has benefited with great performance in his first two matches with the Blaugrana team.

Barcelona seeks to conquer once again La Liga’s tournament as they are now in second place of the standings, and will try to secure his ticket to the Round of 16 in the UEFA Champions League, as they have not gotten to this stage since two years ago.

Now, in a ceremony arranged today at Ciudad Deportiva Joan Gamper, FC Barcelona has officially announced the contract extension with left defender Alejandro Balde until June 30 of 2028 with a recession clause for over one thousand and 66 million dollars which means a one billion euro fee.

During the ceremony Joan Laporta, CEO of FC Barcelona, was present to make official the agreement with Balde and the young defender had this to say, “I've been at the club for 13 years now and the truth is all I have are good memories. When I arrived here at the age of six my dream was always to make it to the first team and today that dream has officially come true and I just have to thank everyone who has been accompanying me in this process”.

Balde’s debut with Barcelona happened in the 2020-2021 preseason in a friendly matchup versus Nastic. Balde’s great defensive performance amused Xavi Hernandez since then and gained his trust, giving him the trust to scale into Barcelona’s first team.

Balde’s stats aren’t that great as he hasn’t seen much action and he isn’t a striker, nevertheless, he already has seven assists and one goal in 56 games played.

“With the renewal, Balde reaffirms that he continues to be the owner and lord of the left wing. He arrived at FC Barcelona in 2011, when he was only eight years old. Since then the winger has been going through stages, and even in the lower categories he went a year advanced, for example, when he was still a rookie, he was already playing matches as a youth player.” said the press release on Balde’s contract extension.
