In a statement published by Diario MARCA, the Argentine commented: There is still a long way to go (to become a Mexican), but if the option to represent Mexico is given, it would be a great honor to do so. My children are Mexican, if at any time the option is given, they are welcome," said the Pachuca striker.

Nicolas Ibañez currently has 12 goals in the Torneo Apertura, and is the striker who has the most in the Mexican tournament.
