Pep Guardiola and his Manchester City are just a few days away from playing their first title of the season, the Community Shield, against Liverpool. Erling Haaland will be in this match, eager to prove himself in his new team.

Guardiola has always been true to his style of play and is not planning on making big chages to his tactics in light of new arrivals. The Catalan manager spoke about the new players of the team who, facing doubts, made his poistion clear: “We are not going to change the way we play. We will adapt these players. We want Haaland, Álvarez and Phillips to give us their best version. The feeling is really good”.

Those who will not be in that fixture will be Raheem Sterling, Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko. Guardiola took the opportunity to clarify his departures, explaining that "there are decisions of the club and decisions of the players. From day one I said that people have to be where they want to be."

"All I can say about Raheem, Gabriel and Oleksandr is that everything we have done this season, without them it would not have been possible," insisted Pep, who had a special mention afterwards for each one of them.

Guardiola’s most important piece

Guardiola spoke about his key players, in particular Kevin de Bruyne: "I would say maybe yes he is the best in the world. I am very happy and he is the last player who is still here since I arrived. Especially in this year he scored a lot of goals, not only assists. In important moments, especially in the Premier League, he was a key player. He is more mature and understands the game perfectly right now. Now he feels he is a better player, he won't admit it because he is very shy. He doesn't want to pretend to be something different from what he is."
