PSG failed to continue with a perfect score in Ligue 1 after drawing with Monaco on match day 4. Aside from the result, one of the events of the match that caught the eye was the substitution of Pablo Sarabia for Lionel Messi five minutes from the end. However, on Tuesday, Christophe Galtier explained the reason for Leo's substitution at the press conference prior to the clash with Toulouse.

The substitution not only surprised Lionel Messi, who sat on the substitutes' bench with a gesture of bewilderment. The press and public opinion also questioned the PSG coach. After 41 minutes of the second half and with the game against Monaco not yet over, Christophe Galtier decided to replace the Argentine.

When Messi sat down on the substitutes' bench, someone asked him about his substitution, to which the Argentine only made a face of incomprehension. The fans also don't understand why they take off a player who can solve a game in less than a minute.

Galtier explained why he took Messi off against Monaco

"I have a quality squad. In some positions there is a chance to replace a player without weakening the team. I think at this stage of the season it's important to use fresh blood. For tomorrow I will change four or five players. It won't be a rotation, but there will be some fresh blood", explained Galtier at first.

Later, he added: "We are playing every three days. In previous seasons, we usually played every four, so we have to be cautious not to lose more players while giving minutes to everyone."
