Erling Haaland missing, the shortlist of players nominated for the Player of the Month award

The Premier League confirmed the shortlist of 6 players nominated for the August 2023 Player of the Month award. One big name is missing: Erling Haaland. The 23 year-old Norwegian is actually the top goalscorer of the league after scoring 6 goals in the first 4 matches.

Big performances from different players have been seen in the first few matches. That's why its weird that Haaland wasn't nominated, as he has scored the most goals, including a hat-trick in the last time out against Fulham. 

One of the key factors for the decision to leave him out of the shortlist for the Player Of The Month award is that the hat-trick against Fulham happened technically in September. That was of course Haaland's best performance so far in the league. However, he scored 3 goals in August.

August 2023 Premier League's Player of the Month nominees

The six players shortlisted for the August 2023 EA Sports Player of the Month award are: Taiwo Awoniyi (Nottingham Forest), Jarrod Bowen (West Ham), James Maddison (Tottenham), Bryan Mbeumo (Brentford), Kaoru Mitoma (Brighton) and Rodri (Manchester City). Football fans can vote for the winner in Premier League's official website.
