Manchester United emerged victorious from their match against Brentford in a match where they certainly aspired for more, but things became complicated. Ten Hag's team started losing in the match, but in the end, a double from midfielder Scott McTominay helped the English team achieve an important result to stay alive and with options in a difficult start to the season.
This is not a season to remember for Manchester United. The team does not quite function as expected and, beyond the fact that this Saturday they ended up pulling off the match in a miraculous way, the signs of vulnerability are more than evident. And Brentford knew how to take advantage of this to open the scoring in one of the first (and few) times they approached André Onana's domain. It was in the 26th minute, and with the aforementioned Cameroonian goalkeeper doing his part to break the initial 0-0 score.
However, to achieve the expected result, a change that many had no faith in ended up being the one that certainly ended up achieving the result on this day. However, something surprising for some was that after 45 dull minutes and with the score against, Ten Hag pointed out one player, Casemiro. He removed the Brazilian at half-time and looked for more creativity first with Christian Eriksen and later more overflow with Antony and Garnacho.
"He wanted more football," said Erik Ten Hag at a press conference. On the other hand, Ten Hag confessed that it is a vital victory for the team's aspirations. "We created chances and controlled the game for long periods, but once again we gave away a goal so easily and we can't do it at this level. We have to do better, we have to take more responsibility and we have to be responsible because otherwise it is difficult to win matches". With this victory, the Red Devils reach 12 points and hope to continue adding units in the following dates.
